    Hi Pepsi & Volcania,
Maybe to get her to go faster you could use a crop / whip? I don’t know if you already carry one but if you don’t you don’t have to hit her with it but lots of ponies go faster just knowing that you have one. Just an idea.
    Anyways, Good luck!

Hi NaomiSparkle! My horse does this too and I reacted the same way. However, my trainer taught me that when she starts going really fast, make her go in a small circle until she calms down again and when she is better you can go in bigger circles. As soon as the horse goes fast again, immediately do a couple small circles till they are chilled again. I learned that I can’t ask my horse to go straight because then she’ll go want to go fast. So I do big circles and when she speeds up, small ones, right away. Then I eventually worked up to doing really big circles to the point where I was going straight. Also make sure your horse/pony is relaxed while walking before trotting. And make sure YOU’RE relaxed too. Hope it helps!

Hi, I need some help. I have been riding since I was 5 but until I was 12 I always rode easy horses. Anyway I got my first pony when I was 12 and well even though she is a little unicorn she is a bit too flighty. I used to trot around happily on my own on a 15.2hh cob called eddie when I was 7 but now I am nervous to ask for trot. Everytime i ask for trot she does this massive explosion of fast trot and then she won’t go round the arena properly. I have tried trotting poles but she just turns to jump mode which is atomic ! I have also thought of lunging her before but she is 20 and gets out of breath quickly.

Please help as I am becoming nervous to ride,

  7. Hi!

My lesson went really well today, but Vulc just doesnt want to canter when i ask her to. I try and try but she ends up jumping the whole course in a trot.
Coca doesnt do that, for him canter is canter and you cant stop him.

Can anyone tell me how to make my lazy pony to go faster?

    Hi guys!
I really need some advice! At my barn, there’s this seal brown gelding named Yankie, he was just broken a few months ago. He is not my trainer’s horse, but she is training him. I’ve taken him out to graze a few times (with my trainer’s permission), and I really like him. I used to deal with OTTBs a lot, and Yankie’s a TB! I love him, but can’t ride him. What should I do?

  10. my mom was in hospitil for cancer, and I tried a bit of hospital food, I’d rather eat sick! we had to bring in food for her, but I appreciate the efforts of the people who made it

  11. Hi ponylover101!

i love jumping big, but i’m okay with jumping little, first. I appreciate your help. I’m going to try jumping 75 or 80 on saturday, and i cant wait! I’ve lunged Vulcania and Coca plenty of times over cavaletti, ans sometimes a cross pole. I’ve tried with and without stirrups, with and without reins, and ive tried bareback over cavaletti.

I’ll comment after the lesson to notificate you if i have made progress. It’s mostly on Vulcania when my position isnt right, but on Pepsi (Coca Cola) I am OK.

    Hey Guys,
I don’t have a pony but there is a riding school pony named Ike that I really love and I want to form a better bond with him but it’s hard because so many people ride him and I’m only able to get to the barn once a week.
What can I do to have a better bond with him?
    Please help!

  18. Ponylover101 says:

    Hi SophieVolcanica,
Maybe practice on your horse at a walk or trot and maybe go on a lunge line (temporarily) so you don’t worry about control and just focus on your position and seat. Also maybe practice on lower jumps so it comes more naturally on the bigger ones.

  19. ILLO says:

@ Sophie Vulcania try just practising in walk and even sitting on the sofa- just till it comes second nature!

hi, my dream pony is called tonights dream, she is a grey thooroughbred mare, and 17hh.
hi sophie vulcanica, reading horse jumping books will really help, and try to think of your hands going with the horses mouth, your leg stabilising your whole body, and from the waist up you can fold up to a foot.
i hope this helps, from lovemypony xxxx

  21. Hi!
Do any of you have dream ponies? If yes, what are their names and colors?

    Major: Bay gelding 15hh
    Thunder: Black stallion 16hh

  22. Hey!

I am learning to jump 80cm these days and i just can’t get my position right. One jump im too far back, and the other to straight up. My friends have like a leaning up position, while mine is all wrong, and sometimes it’s embarrassing. My instructor keeps on saying either, you’re too far back, lean forward a bit more and stand up in your stirrups, and i keep on trying, but i never get it right.
Can anyone help me, any advice or tips on how to get my position right?

    Sophie Vulcania
