Hi pony hugs123 tnx for the advise hes very strong too lead so I will work on that but he has the strongest bit we could find or know of but is working out well my dads a bit old fashioned and we have six ponies plus due too lock down there getting paid less so I mite have to wait on the saddle fitting idea but thanks again for the advise cause I’ve tried doing loads of transitions and he’s started too relaxed on the bit now its just my terrible hand eye co ordination that’s letting us down We were meant too be going to his first games rally and we were sooo exited but it was cancelled thanks too classic Irish weather thanks again by the way just call me Nixy b thnx bye

  3. for an older pony, I would recommend lots of carrot stretches, as well as bending exercises. I hope this helps! 🙂 😀

  6. Hi evryone I’m loving this chat thing so I’m going to answer all the advise that hasent been answerd I have aster advise from the Irish groom of the year for some of them and some I have had expiriance in 1.older ponies are harder to care for I have only had one older pony who was 26 years old you need to make sure they enjoy there work try not to use methods like draw reins and you should be carefull of Cushing desease it’s very common for older pony’s but many older pony are great at pony games 2.stopping ponies hair falling off is hard work and I don’t know of any shampoo that can help but my old ponies mane used too fall out and we hogged him it worked great his mane looks gorgeaos now 3. You can get help so you don’t have too get up as early it can be fun or even consider sharing your pony or taking turns with a friend too go out in the mornings b. You can try doing faster work like cantering ang jumping on lunge once your confident try gallop with a friend so your pony won’t want to leave also starving him only to a quarter a Haynet a day or if he lives out see if you can put a eletric wire around a shelter too shorten his amount of grass or even put a grazing muzzle on him 4. It’s not great too put your pony in with a fierce one especially if he’s smaller so try make them friends keep him away from sick horses and if your pony is kind you can put him in with the foal we have foals at home and my ponies being in with them have been a great expiriance for them and the foal thanks guys from Zoe’s pony tales bye

    Hey Lovemypony,
Mystic is a great one! It’s one of my faves!
Also, if u have netflix, then I’d 100000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000% recommend free rein!

    Hey yaya10!
I’m English and part welsh but I always wish I could say I was irish lol.

    Hi Little Welsh Pony!
First of all, that’s a lot of problems to deal with in one go, If you don’t want to ride spud, you could try in hand work or lunging, You could even do in-hand chase me charlie! This is suuper good for bonding too, so you and spud will get on even better afterwards!
What about using an electric fence to split the field in half so that your ponies aren’t with your Aunts? Hop this works.
    Hey!
I’m not sure what your name is, But if you want to improve your canter seat try with no stirrups of super long stirrups. Also, this will sound crazy but the faster you canter, the comfier it is! So remember to keep your pony nice and fast if your comfortable with this.

    Hiya!
I’m not sure what your name is but have him checked by a vet and his tack checked by a saddle fitter. If it’s clear, try a stronger bit or a martingale and maybe do in hand work with lots of transtitions.
Anyway, i’d better stop writing lol.

    Love ponyhugs123 xoxo

Hi any advice to help my cantering I would love to know pls? As I really need help with it.Oh by the way i’m am a huge fan of Holly Smith is anyone here to.

  11. Omg people help me!!!!!!!! Pony problem overload!

    1. The guy that we rent land from is selling so we have to move the ponies to my grandad’s field which is 15 minutes in the car so I will have to get up even earlier for school. At the moment I get up at 05:50!!

    2. My mum is a donkey too! We argue 99.9999999999% of the time. I like to do things my way, and vice versa! I mean, I took a test and I’m a Welsh pony (just like my Spuddy) which suits – I am stubborn as one too!

    3. Spud is almost in the early stages of Laminitus. His neck is as hard as steel and he has this huge crest. I think I’m the one to blame tho. When he bolted, I was kind of maybe a tiny weeny insy bit scared to ride him again. I did it, but I haven’t done any fast work since. We also haven’t got anywhere to do any jumping. We have a school area but it is only small and its grass and it’s lumpy. I feel so mean because niq he has to go in a tiny paddock so he doesn’t have loads of grass. And moving him won’t help!!

    4. The field that we will have to move them to already has horses that belong to my aunt. They are pretty fierce and one of them is currently sick. Another is only a colt, Nigel.

Any advice would be gratefully swallowed!!!!!

    Hi PonyMadHorseyGirl,

Thanks for the advice but I don’t think I could do that. Where we live no one else actually has any tack and well it is difficult to earn trust of a company to send your tack to them for cleaning and to trust them to send it back…. but thanks anyway as you did give me an idea of something I could do… i was thinking a rug clean and repair service (with baby safe detergent of course)

    So tysm,

    NaomiSparkle X

  15. Also, if anyone needs horsey advice from a reliable book, I have piles so just ask and I will see what I have 😊
    From Ponymadhorseygirl
P.S. Does anyone here collect schleich horses cause I have piles 🤣

  16. Hi NaomiSparkle, the only horsey way to make money I can think is to clean tack. It takes up a little bit more time but it can make you a lot of money. I got £5 for cleaning a dirty bridle. Just an idea 😊👍

    From PonyMadHorseyGirl

  17. NaomiSparkle says:

Also does anyone know how I can make money from home ? It would need to be something that doesn’t take up alot of time but makes money quick. I am useless at crafts and stuff so maybe an online job ? Preferable something Horsey. I am already selling all the old things that I don’t need but it is not enough and I can’t get a job until I have left school 😒. Any advice ?

  18. NaomiSparkle says:

    Hi everyone,
Thx for all of the advice. I can’t really come to a compromise as she thinks that if you have a horse then you have got to do everything else not just ride. In a way I want 2 stable blocks one for me and one for my mum but we can’t even afford 1 so I know that that is out the window.

I really don’t think that I could tell her, she gets cross really easily and if I tell her that I don’t really like the way she does it and that I want to do things my way she will explode. I just think that childhood is kinda like your fun pony time, you dont hv to worry about money or getting to work while still enjoying your horse. When your a kid it is care free and fun and I feel like I am being deprived of that by having my mum mess it all up, she gets angry when I sweep up after school as she says it is useless and a time waster ! One of these days I will probably hv a melt down and tell her everything then she will ignore me and not speak to me for the rest of the day.

Though we hv come to an agreement in the past. She knows that I will grow out of my pony and when that sad time comes we are going to rescue a horse from a sanctuary, and well we came to an agreement that sometime in the early summer I will be full owner of both of the horses for a month. Just to see if I can cope with it. So that means that she does nothing not even ride unless I invite her to ride her on a hack. So I am almost planning a takeover then.

Ik it sound evil but well when my mum was a kid she had 2 ponies to share with my aunt called Shami and Fiki and they used to have great fun, then in her early twentys she had a thoroughbred mare called Tudor Myth but she was given to a friend when the moved, then much later on she got a 5month old thoroughbred gelding called Prince. She had to back him and everything and he was I think her special horse. Well about 6 months ago he passed away and I felt like that should be it, of course my pony was lonely but I just thought that we would be a donkey or shetland but no, my mum insisted on getting a rescue trotter mare 15.2hh so that she could carry on, and I feel like that’s when it ended.

Sorry for going on for so long, I might tell her one day but who knows if my little plan works then I might never even need to tell her. Hopefully she will like all the free time to work and sort out the garden and house (as she hates them being messy) and then at the end of the month she might ask me if I would be willing to take on Sally plus then i would not need a bigger horse in future so it is actually a money saver and time saver.

    Thx for the advice !

hi naomisparkle. tell your mum what you honestly feel, and stand your ground. whilst she is allowed to have a passion for horse, she can’t get in the way of your passion for them. your mum will probably be quite cross at first, but once she has cooled off a bit, she might take you seriously. i hope this help, from lovemypony xxx

  20. Ponyhugs123 says:

    Hey NaomiSparkle,
Have you tried telling your mum how you feel? She ought to understand and you never know, she might have felt that way when she was your age! If you can’t pluck up the guts, maybe text her or write a letter.
Does anyone know whether goose fat will make my pony’s hooves less brittle? My friend recommended it, but she has a retired racehorse (a thoroughbred) so he’s very different to my cob. Help!!

Just say to ur mom that u want to try be mature and responsible and just tell her I want to do things a little different to u.Then just introduce her to ur new ways.I don’t live on a farm but i know a bit about horses.
    Hope that helps xx
    Tell me how it goes!😊

  22. Horse Fanatic says:

Hey Horsey People! NaomiSparkle, maybe you could explain to your mum why you don’t like what she is doing. If you make a compromise like, she can ride horses and things like that but you can take care of feeding the horses and all the main work. If that doesn’t work try showing her that she can have a passion for horses without doing the things that bother you.

  23. NaomiSparkle says:

Ok, I need help or I’m gonna go crazy !

My mum is constantly at the yard at the same time as me. We have our own yard with our 2 horses and well she seems to think that the way that she did stuff when she was a kid is the right way. She gives the tiny beds, never sweeps up, leaves the buckets all dirty and gives them less meal than they should have.

How do I get my mum to just set aside her horsey passion ? She also likes gardening and she constantly finds that there is not enough time for both but she does not want to give either up.

In my view, she has had her pony time where her and my aunt had they’re two ponies and they would go for rides round the fields together and well I just want her to pass that along to me !

I would like to be able to arrange the things on the yard how I want them, muckout when I want, and to just have some private time around the horses without feeling like she is constantly breathing down my neck. I don’t mind if she wants to come for a hack but if she would let me do all the mucking out grooming and stuff that would be so amazing.

Please help or I am gonna go crazy !

  24. hi pony people!! how are you all doing?

does anyone have a way to stop manes falling out?!?!? spud’s mane is coming out really easily, but only in the middle. i tried plaiting him last night, and it looked really odd – he has a load of thick gold/ginger hair about halfway up. it looks gorgeous (if I say so myself) but when he has it plaited, it looks really weird!! is there anything to use, like a special pony shampoo? help!!!!
