Hi Guys, how do you convince your parents to buy/lease ponies? I’ve tried everything but nothing works.

    Hey NaomiSparkle,
my pony was once like that too, so don’t feel alone. His fight instincts made him want to bite the hose, so we left the hose running slowly on the floor so he could get used to it and feel as though he had defeated it. Then we built up to squirting our hands with water from the hose. Then, with the hose on as low as it would go, so just a few dribbles came out, we squirted him. He now loves baths and gets excited whenever he sees the wash bucket or shampoo bottle! Hope this helps,

Oh has anyone got some tips for trotting without stirrups, I’ve been riding for years now and can jump, but my instructor still hasn’t asked me to trot without stirrups. Thanks,

    Hey Naomi Sparkles,
To stop your pony from not moving when your bathing her maybe ask one of your friends or family to hold her head collar and the other hold her by the back and maybe you could try washing your pony down with a bucket tipping the water over her. Have you ever heard of a water brush, you dab it in water for a sec then brush her down, that might be work a try, and also try your rubber and plastic curry combs to maybe get mud from her hocks. Also for sponging maybe if you use a smaller sponge she won’t get so scared, well if I knew the breed I could give you a lot more information and help. But maybe try and get use to grooming it’ll be easier and just sponge her with water to call her and when she muddy normally once in a week or fortnight!

    Hiya Sophie Vulcania,
I’ve got a few ideas for you mare, I think Naomi Sparkles’ idea is good to but maybe try her through some trotting poles and making you position right, it would be good to figure out what she’s scared of so maybe, put a jump in front of a slope, see if she can do that, sometimes if horses can’t see what’s behind the jump, if she’s not scared of that put jumps in weird places. If it is the ‘can’t see the other side of the jump’ thing maybe before you jump Leda her round the back of the jump, that’ll definitely work, if not I’ve got more ideas!

    Hi Naomisparkle,
If you try use warmer water it might work or maybe even bribe your pony your pony with apples or sugar cubes

    hi Yaya10

It took me about a year to convince my parents to let me have lessons but my advice is:
leave loads of hints around your room like pony posters and perhaps try pretending to ride on the arm or n armchair and always put it on your present lists.
    hope it helps. Good luck

Does anyone know how to get my pony to stand while bathing or perhaps some bathing alternatives ? I think that she knows that if she stands still then it will be over quicker but she doesn’t care. She doesn’t like the hose or sponges and I know that if I got one of those hose massage brushes then she would become scared of being brushed. She came from a not very nice riding school before us and they bought her when she was 1 so I think that someone has decided to tie her up and just squirt a freezing jet of water at her when she was a baby. She isn’t terrified of it but she has pulled out a couple of posts before so my mum tries to help by holding her in the yard but then she just goes round in circles. I love bathing ponies but when it is like this it takes around 4 hours and me getting soaked. I know that I could just groom her instead of bath her but it just doesn’t work. Either the dust works it’s way into the coat more or the stains don’t budge and she loves to have poop pillows.

    Please help !

    Hi Sophie Vulcania,

My pony does this too. Just put up a series of small jumps and keep working your way up. Also let her know that she is not going in until she has completed the 80cm course or something.

    Hope this helps

  10. Hey guys! I love jumping my beautiful Chestnut mare, Vulcania, but when I try to jump at least 80 cm, she spooks. Does anyone have any advice on how to sort this out?

Hi I’m very new to this site!
So anyone know any horsey competitions coming on soon, I’d like to enter, well I haven’t exactly got a pony of my own but I might loan a pony soon!

  13. Cross~Country_Fresian says:

Hi Marina, I’ve got some ideas for your horse to trust you!!! I’M LITERALLY PONY MAD!!! So I guess these are some ways: You could, ‘Go spend time with your pony, hacking, grooming or even just sitting on the fence when he’s in the paddock,’ I’ve never actually owned a pony but I wish I could what breed you have? My favourite is a Fresian and I LOVE cross country that’s my fav. I guess so also you could ‘Just play with him a bit and just try talking to him or her!’ Well if I know the breed I could tell you much more info! So I guess I’ll talk to you soon! I’m also new to Pony Mag to so don’t worry your not alone!

  20. Horse Fanatic says:

Hey Horsey People! Thanks for the advise Ponyhugs123! I will be sure to try your suggestions when I go to the farm!

  21. Rachyru11 says:

    Hi guys!!!!

  22. Ponyhugs123 says:

HorseFanatic, Maybe lunge her before riding, use a stronger bit or maybe look into her history. Maybe her fear of trees is because of some sort of trauma in the past? It might help to have her checked by a vet/saddle fitter too.
    Hope this works,
    ponyhugs123

  23. Ponyhugs123 says:

AlishaandSeb, Maybe find the cheapest saddle pad possible, and pay for it yourself or agree to go halfsies with them. Show them how useful it’ll be and how cute Seb’ll look in it.
    PonyHugs123

  24. Ponyhugs123 says:

Yaya10, instead of telling your parents how much you love ponies, why not show them? Maybe make a pony collage or factfile to impress them with your knowledge, or research riding schools to show them that it’s not as much of a pain as they think. Also, try to be really nice to them, they won’t give you what you want if your a stroppy mare all the time (get it !) (Sorry I couldn’t help making a pony pun 😉 )
If all else fails, I’m not sure what else you could do.

Hey Horsey People! I just went to this awesome horse farm! It was huge and it had Icelandic horses and there was one named Smoke, he was my fave and he liked me I think.
