The Secret Horse by Emma Wigley

Eleven-year-old Jessie’s world falls apart after her parents split up, and she’s forced to move to the unfamiliar county of Cornwall. Although, during a walk, she encounters a troubled pony who’s stuck in a stable with no one to talk to. After being chased away by the pony’s owner, Jessie comes up with a plan to offer to help the family out with the pony, who she later finds out is called Luna. The two quickly form a strong bond and Jessie must learn all she can about horses so that she can help Luna become her best self again.

With lots of twists and turns, this book will keep you intrigued all the way through. The story accurately depicts the feelings and worries of young people today, plus how much dedication it takes to really understand horses.
