Ten-year-old Emmie Horner has been awarded the NAF Shining Star for May

A young equestrian super-star has won the NAF Shining Star Award for May thanks to her enthusiasm and inspiring dedication to her ponies.

Ten-year-old Emmie Horner, who’s a member of the Bristol and North Somerset academy, was nominated for the award by her coach, Jayne Smart. Jayne described Emmie as a lovely girl who is very competitive but rides her ponies with so much style and flare. Commenting on Emmie’s success, Jayne said she has worked so hard with her ponies and has got through the difficult times due to her great attitude. Jayne said that coaching Emmie is so rewarding because she is very determined and always has a smile on her face.

Emmie was so pleased with her amazing achievement and couldn’t even believe she’d been nominated! It’s been a successful year so far for Emmie and she’s excited to be out competing again with her talented and super-cute ponies. Emmie said she enjoys being a part of the academy and has made some good friends. In particular, Emmie loves taking part in the team comps – especially after their silver success at Bolesworth.

The team at NAF are super excited to follow Emmie’s progress throughout 2021 and beyond. Lisa Field from NAF said that Emmie’s “a worthy winner of this Month’s NAF Shining Star!”

The NAF Shining Star Award is for members of a Junior Academy who have shown loads of commitment to the sport as well as progression, outstanding behaviour and great riding ability. These young riders are nominated by their coach then judged. One lucky person will receive the award from NAF each month!
