Adorable foal receives a special royal blessing from the Queen

Monarch and Majesty Redwings foal

Her Majesty the Queen was super-happy after a foal born at Redwings Horse Sanctuary was named Monarch in honour of her Platinum Jubilee

The charity wrote to the Queen to tell her about the foal’s arrival in April 2022. The little colt was born at Redwings, but it was nearly a very different story because his mum, Majesty, was rescued after being involved in a car crash. Luckily, she made an amazing recovery and went on to have Monarch in April.

The letter from Buckingham Palace said…

“The Queen has asked me to thank you for your recent letter in which you informer Her Majesty of the birth of a colt foal at Redwings Horse Sanctuary in April, which has been named ‘Monarch’ to mark the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

“Her Majesty is touched by this gesture as well as your kind words of congratulations, and I am to thank you for your thoughtfulness in writing to her as you did.

“This letter comes to you, and to all at Redwings Horse Sanctuary, with The Queen’s warm good wishes.”

Lynn Cutress, chief executive of Redwings, said: “We’re thrilled to have received this letter from Buckingham Palace. It’s wonderful to be given Her Majesty’s good wishes and we very much hope she has enjoyed her special weekend.”

Monarch was turned out on grass for the first time with his mum the week before the Queen’s Jubilee and Redwings staff took the sweetest video of them both enjoying galloping around their new field. If you’d like to watch the video, visit Redwings YouTube channel.
