In many parts of the world donkeys are working animals. They’re chosen over horses for their ability to cope with tricky terrain.

Their big ears actually help them to hear. In their natural environment, donkey herds wander over huge areas and their large ears help them to hear herd mates over long distances.

People say donkeys have a calming effect on horses and they’re sometimes used to comfort foals when they’re being weaned.

People say that donkeys are stubborn, but in fact they just have a great sense of self preservation.
