4 super-fun games to play with your PONY mag playing cards!

Crazy Eights

This is a fast game full of surprises!

• Deal 5 cards to each player
• Put the rest of the cards in a pile in the middle of the table
• Turn over one card to start

Players take it in turns putting a card on top of the pile. The card they put down must match either the number or suit of the one below it.

No matching card? Pick one up from the pile and miss your turn!

Special rule: Eights are wild!

Play an 8 at any time and you can choose the next suit!

The first player to get rid of all their cards wins.

Go Fish

A classic game that’s super easy to learn.

• Deal 5 cards to each player
• Put the rest of the cards in the middle

The person starting must ask any other player for a card they need.

For example, “Do you have any 4s?”

If they do, they must give you all their 4s.

If not, they must say “Go Fish” and you pick up a card from the pile.

To score points, make as many sets of 4 matching cards as you can – like four 8s or 4 Kings.

The player with the most sets wins!

War

Simple, exciting and perfect for two players.

• Split the deck evenly between the two players
• Keep your cards face down

Both players flip over the top card on their pile at the same time. Whoever turns over the higher card wins both cards.

But if the cards match…it’s WAR!

Each player puts down two more cards:

• One face down
• One face up

The higher face up card wins! The player who put down this card gets to pick up all six cards on the table.

Collect all the cards in the deck to win.

Cheat

Can you trick your friends?

• Share all the cards between players
• Players take turns putting cards face down and declaring what they played

If someone puts down a two, you must put down either one number higher or one number lower. You can put down as many cards as you want of the same number – for example, two 4s or three 8s.

But here’s the catch…you don’t have to be honest!

If you think someone is lying about what cards they put down, shout “CHEAT!”, and turn over the cards they put down.

• If they did lie, they pick up all the cards on the table
• If they told the truth, YOU pick them up instead

The first player to get rid of all their cards wins!
