it all takes practice but to collect, you have to squeeze with your legs but contain the energy with your reins and seat. to lengthen you have to squeze harder with your legs, but make sure your pace doesn’t go out the front door as i call it. in other words don’t let your pony rush, and his/ her canter go long, fast and flat. hope this is helpful.

I was wondering how you manage to get the horse to do the collected canter and get him/her to lengthen his/her stride.
