Discover our top things to do with horsey friends!

Spending time with your fave pony is the best feeling in the world – but it can be even better if you buddy up with a horsey pal. Here’s why we love riding with others!

  1. Ponies love the company of other ponies, so what better way to keep your fave pony happy by riding out with his equine bestie?!
  2. The amazing thing about the sport is that you don’t need to have your own pony to make horsey friends! Head to your local riding school to join a group lesson – this way you can meet people of a similar age and experience. You’ll progress through the sport together and, you never know, in a few years you could even be competing against each other!

  3. Mounted games are a great way for you to have a laugh with your friends. Set up an obstacle course, tack up your fave ponies, and head to the arena for the ultimate test of speed and precision.

  4. Clinics are a great way to meet new people at a new venue. You’ll be of similar abilities, which makes riding with new people much less intimidating! Plus, you’ll have an instructor there to help calm any nerves.

  5. Own-a-pony days are a super-fun way to spend a whole day with your fave ponies and pony friends! Head over to your local riding school to see if they have any pony days coming up, and find out what it’s like to own your own pony!

  6. Organise a pony meet up! If you’re not at the same yard as your bestie, don’t worry! Load up your ponies and head to an arena hire in between your yards so you can ride together! This way you get to experience a new venue, too!

  7. If someone at the yard has a competition coming up, you could offer to help at their next show! Whether it’s helping to get their pony sparkling clean, or to video their round, they’ll be super-grateful to have you there for support!

  8. Going for a hack is the best time for a catch-up with your bestie. Explore new routes or plod around your favourite woodland track with your ponies to catch up on any goss!

  9. Load up and head to the nearest pony-friendly beach to let off some steam! Feel the wind in your hair as you race your besties across the sand. Plus, your ponies will love having a good gallop!

  10. Pony swaps can be a fun thing to do with your friends, as long as it’s safe – so always check with an adult first! Although they might look easy to ride, all ponies feel different, so it’ll boost your riding skills at the same time as being fun.

  11. Pairs competitions are a great way to compete with your horsey friends. You can follow a friend with more experience if you’re feeling nervous, or give them a lead if they need it to help boost confidence.

  12. Sponsored rides are like a super-long hack with lots of people all around! It’s like exploring somewhere new but without having to work out the route yourself, and usually with optional jumps along the way – yay! What better way to catch up with your horsey friends and their ponies?

  13. Pony Club camp is the best part of summer! A week jam-packed full of pony fun, plus a sleepover with your besties – what more could you want?! If you don’t have your own pony, don’t worry! There are loads of super-fun riding camps across the country where you don’t need your own pony!

  14. If you’re competitive, why not go to a stay away competition? You’ll meet loads of other horse mad people and are sure to make new friends for life, as well as having a great time with your pony. Winner!
