The British Horse Society announces Pony Stars

Looking for a super-fun way to boost your pony know-how and make new friends? Pony Stars could be the perfect challenge for you!

Brand-new for 2021, The British Horse Society (BHS) has announced its Pony Stars Junior Challenge Awards! With more than 100 topics for pony fans to learn about, Pony Stars is the perfect way to boost your pony know-how and make like-minded friends.

When you register for the Challenge, you’ll get your own My Challenge Book so you can keep track of what you achieve – as you progress, you’ll get stickers, badges and rosettes, too!

How can you get involved?

There are two ways for you to join Pony Stars…

contact your nearest BHS Approved Riding Centre and register your interest in the Challenge
if you already have your own pony, speak to an Accredited Professional Coach, who’ll be able to help you work through the Challenge

There are four sections for you to try, and you can start with whichever you’d like…

Shetland Striders
Dartmoor Dazzlers
Welshie Wizzers
Connemara Champs

Each section works through six themes, which you can complete in any order, and each section will go more in-depth as you progress through them. The themes are…

Golden Groom – including grooming, anatomy, breeds and colours and handling
Pet Protector – including behaviour, passports, health and seasonal care
Junior Jockey – including riding skills, tack and fitness
Equine Explorer – including travelling, the Highway Code and high-vis
Stable Star – including yard security, fire safety, paddock maintenance and fencing
Helping Hero – including volunteering, first aid, recycling and campaigning
