The first super-cute foal of 2021 has been born at The Donkey Sanctuary’s base in Sidmouth, Devon
It’s official – spring is here! And The Donkey Sanctuary’s welcoming in the new season with their very first donkey foal of 2021. He’s been enjoying the sunshine and exploring the charity’s farm in Sidmouth, Devon, with his mum Rachel, who was rescued in 2020.
The foal hasn’t yet been named, but he’s light grey and has cute little stripes on his legs that look a lot like long socks! Rachel was pregnant when she was rescued by the Sanctuary in April 2020. She arrived with five other donkeys who needed expert care to nurse them back to good health.
Neil Coles, Farm Manager at The Donkey Sanctuary said: “Rachel delivered her foal quickly and with no complications. Our vet has checked over the mare and foal and is very happy with how they’re both doing. Rachel has been a brilliant mum so far. It’s really lovely watching them enjoy the spring sunshine together, knowing they’ll both have a safe and happy future with The Donkey Sanctuary.”
