Max the donkey finds true friendship after heartbreak

The Donkey Sanctuary have found 20-year-old donkey Max the perfect friend following his heartbreak over losing his best friend Rosie

24-year-old donkey, Max, has been feeling really sad since his best friend Rosie died of colic last year. He’s been missing his pal and sorely in need of a new friend to keep him company.

Donkey welfare adviser, Tewsday Herbert, soon found out about Max and was determined to find him a new best friend. Enter Marian – a 20-year-old donkey who’d been considered impossible to rehome due to a dental condition she was born with. Luckily, though, Tewsday got in touch with Max’s owners and it turns out that Marian looks just like Rosie! Being a look-alike would make bonding a little easier, so Marian was shaping up to be the perfect companion.

Once she was given the all clear by the vet and farrier, Marion made the long journey from Devon to Max’s home in Berkshire. Ever since she arrived, the pair have been inseparable and Marian’s turned out to be exactly the friend Max needed. The donkeys have bonded as well as everyone hoped and Marian is the confident leader that Max was looking for. We’re super-glad these gorgeous donkeys have found happiness together!
