Cross-country fence to be sponsored by eventing project that supports talented young riders

If you’re going to Badminton Horse Trials or simply watching it on TV, see if you can spot the cross-country fence that is being sponsored by Project Pony.

Project Pony is all about supporting young talented event riders in the sport of eventing by giving them the chance to ride top-class event ponies, something they wouldn’t otherwise be able to do. Through the project, riders can borrow an established event pony from the project’s squad to compete on, while other young pony riders are offered the opportunity to have lessons with top trainers.

Founder of Project Pony Elizabeth Barratt came up with the idea for the initiative when she moved on to horses and wanted to offer her eventing pony, Noble Superman, for loan to up-and-coming riders in the sport. She thanks Badminton for giving Project Pony the opportunity to support and promote young talent in eventing.

Badminton event director Jane Tuckwell said: “Project Pony is doing a fabulous job supporting talented young riders. Hopefully, some of these individuals will go on to become future Team GBR riders when otherwise they might not have had the opportunity to reach the highest levels of the sport.”
