Superstar riders, dazzling displays, racing Shetland ponies and heaps of festive fun – yes, it’s almost Olympia time again! Here’s the lowdown on what’s in store at this year’s show, which runs from 17-23 December…

Dancing horses kick-off Olympia

Olympia kicks off in style with Grand Prix dressage on the Monday evening, followed by the super-popular Freestyle to music on Tuesday. It’s an amazing opportunity to watch the world’s top dressage riders and their star horses in action. Plus, for the first time, each rider will be interviewed right after they’ve ridden their Grand Prix test, and will be in the arena when their score is revealed!

YouTube star This Esme will be doing a meet-and-greet for PONY mag in The Olympia Live Zone at 11.30am on Friday 21 December!

Jump for the stars

If you love showjumping, Olympia is the place to be and from Wednesday the show’s packed with festive-themed classes, such as the Santa Stakes and Mince Pie Stakes, where you can cheer on your fave riders to be the fastest in the jump-off! One of Olympia’s most famous classes is the Puissance, and brave riders and horses will take on the big red wall on Wednesday evening. How high will they jump this year?

Two of the biggest prizes on offer are Saturday afternoon’s World Cup qualifier and Sunday evening’s Grand Prix. These are the ones that all the riders want to win!

Driving force

Hold onto your seats, extreme driving is back for the Thursday afternoon performance. Involving horses and carriages racing at high speed around and over obstacles, it’s fast, furious and super-exciting. World Cup driving on Saturday evening is equally thrilling, and it’s only open to the top drivers in the world.

Ponies rule!

Olympia’s not just about horses, ponies also have a starring role in the show! There’s firm favourite the Shetland Pony Grand National, of course, but you can also see ponies in action in the Pony Club Mini-Major Relay, Mistletoe Mini Stakes and the Ridden Mountain and Moorland Championship.

Amazing displays

Olympia never disappoints with its awesome displays and this year will be no different. La Garde Republicaine is a famous French cavalry regiment who’ll be performing a thrilling display to music. After proving super-popular at Windsor Horse Show, And, Azerbaijan – Land of Fire will be treating the Olympia crowd to amazing high-speed acrobatics on horseback.
