RSPCA photo competition

If you’ve taken any awesome photos of your fave pony during lockdown, why not enter them for a national competition? Entries are now open for the annual RSPCA Young Photographer Awards, and you can send in pix of pretty much any species of animal, including ponies!

The competition’s open to keen photographers aged 18 or under, and there are some amazing prizes up for grabs!

There are categories for under 12s, 12-15 years and 16-18 years. Plus, you can also enter your pix in Picture Perfect Pets, and there’s a special section for images taken on Mobile Phones and Devices. Also, a new category has been added for this year. Small World encourages you to create a photo that reflects your time in lockdown, which could be a pet you’ve spent loads of time with or wildlife spotted during walks or in the garden.

The judging panel includes TV star and wildlife champion Chris Packham, who says: “Whether your photo’s a lucky snap taken on a whim outside a bedroom window that perfectly captures a wild animal, or a beautiful image taken after hours of patiently waiting for a hedgehog or badger to creep into your garden, we want to see it!”

Entries close on 14 August, so there’s loads of time to get snapping! For all the entry info and comp rules, and a gallery of images to give you some inspo, head to rspca.org.uk/ypa
