Two Team GB Olympic and Paralympic champions have been shortlisted for the FEI Awards 2021

The FEI Awards were launched in 2009 to recognise the amazing individuals and organisations in equestrian sport and since then it has become a highly anticipated event. This year the list of nominees is made up of grooms, vets, charities, organising committees, National Federations, young athletes and Olympic and Paralympic medallists. Two out of the 20 shortlisted are Team GB athletes – Laura Collett and Sir Lee Pearson.

Sir Lee Pearson has been nominated for the FEI Best Athlete award. This award pays tribute to the athlete that’s demonstrated exceptional skill and taken the sport to a new level over the past year. With 17 Paralympic medals to his name, this nomination comes as no surprise – he’s officially the most successful Para Dressage athlete of all time.

Laura Collett, who became the first British female Olympic eventing champion in Tokyo 2020, has been nominated for the FEI Against All Odds award. This award is for inspiring individuals who have pursued their equestrian ambitions and overcome challenges and obstacles along the way. Back in 2013, Laura had an accident where she was left blind in one eye, so it’s truly incredible to regularly watch her gallop bravely around some the biggest cross-country courses in the world!

Nine expert judges from across the globe will contribute to 50% of the results, with the other 50% from the public vote. If you’d like to vote for one of your equestrian heroes, you have until 17 October to do so!
