10 things you can do this summer

Looking for some super-cool ways to spend summer this year? Don’t fear, PONY is here! We have 10 fantastic ideas that you can do with your fave pony or your pony pals!

Yard ride – get some of your friends together at the yard and organise a super-fun hack. Bring along a picnic and some yummy snacks for your pony to make the ride even more fun!
Bath time – even during lovely sunny weather your pony can still get covered in dust, so you could always give him a good scrub on a hot day. He’s sure to appreciate being cooled down!
Pony pals sleepover – why not spend the day riding together and finish it off by having a sleepover with all your fave snacks and a horsey movie to end the day?
Preparing for camp – if you’re off to Pony Club camp this year, you’ll need to make sure your pony’s fitness is top notch. Set up a fitness regime with lots of variety, from hacking and pole work to increasing how long you ride him for, so he’s ready and raring to go.
Pony outing – take your pony somewhere new for a hack, or hire an arena, cross-country course or even a gallops to keep things interesting for both of you.
Pony days out – why not pop out to a horse and pony sanctuary or heavy horse farm to learn and get to know the horses there? Some zoos even have horses too and if you’re looking for more ideas, check out PONY mag issue 906 as we have a huge list of the best places to go!
Have a pony for the day – did you know there are places where you can ‘own a pony for the day’? You get to do all the super-cool yard jobs as well as having a ride on the pony and getting to know his daily routine.
Tack clean – although this isn’t the most exciting job it needs doing and it’s more enjoyable with friends. So, grab your fave horsey pals and give your tack a good clean. Chatting while cleaning will make it sooo much more fun!
Beach trip – take your fave pony to the beach and give him a good canter along the sand! You’ll both be feeling like you’re in a scene from a movie with the wind whistling through his mane. And why not finish the beach trip off with a tasty barbeque?
Yard comp day – have a go at setting up your own competition at your yard. Get as many people involved as possible by coming up with a few different disciplines so everyone can get involved.
