The Horse of the Year show is a great way to celebrate the end of the competitive season. Whether you’re horsey mad or just enjoy watching the top riders ‘do their thing’, HOYS has it all.
Running since 1949, HOYS hosts 29 championship showing classes, including the prestigious titles: the Supreme Horse of the Year and the Supreme Pony of the Year. Amazingly, only 1% of competitors gain a ‘golden ticket’ finalist place for HOYS, after competing in classes up and down the country between March and September to qualify for the main event.
HOYS also celebrates the end of the showjumping season, highlighting the fantastic talent of both horse and rider in the daring Puissanance (one of the most famous jumping competitions in the world designed to push the jumping limit), the Leading Pony Show Jumper of the Year, the Senior Foxhunter Championship and the Leading Show jumper of the Year.
Combining entertainment with learning, HOYS features a masterclass from the Olympic Dressage Rider Carl Hester MBE and Dressage riders ‘strut their stuff’ in the Dressage Future Elite Championship.
Other main events include the irbac 3D Worming Pony Club Mounted Games and the Osborne Refrigerators Double Harness Scurry Race.
