Did you know?
In-hand and lead-rein showing classes are slightly different because they don’t involve canter, but they run in a similar format with a group and then individual show.
Perfect partnership
One of the key things a showing judge is looking for is a harmonious relationship between you and your pony. But they will also assess…
- how freely your pony moves
- his responsiveness to your aids
- how supple he is
- whether your kit complies with the class rules
It’s important you take all of these factors into account when training your pony for a showing competition.
Did you know?
It’s normal to feel nervous before a comp, but as long as you know you’ve prepared well and tried your best, that’s all that matters. Try to enjoy it and take in the atmosphere around you!
Top tip
It’s a good idea to watch showing classes at your local showground before entering to get an idea of what’s involved so you can maximise your practice sessions.
