Do you have your own pony or perhaps you always ride a particular one in your lessons? If so, you might be uber-confident on him and a bit nervous about making a change, but riding different ponies from time to time can do wonders for your riding skills. 1. Riding a pony with loads of experience is brilliant because he’ll be able to help you add more skills to your own repertoire! Maybe he’s a master at flying changes and you’ve been desperate to get to grips with the movement so that you can do it on your own pony!

2. OK, this might sound crazy but it’s actually a good thing to know what your weaknesses are, and riding different ponies might help you discover them! Why? Because then you can get advice and begin work on improving. That means you’ll become a better rider all round – winning!

3. There are sooo many different types of pony, each with their own personality, way of going and habits. Gaining experience riding all these ponies will expand your knowledge loads and you’ll know how to get the most from them! Awesome!

4. Whether or not you need a confidence boost, there’s nothing better than riding a pony who makes you feel on top of the world so you can enjoy every second in the saddle! Ask your instructor for their recommendation of a pony who fits that description and you’ll have the time of your life – what’s not to love about that!

5. Granted, learning to ride isn’t a race but if your goals revolve around improving your skills, then riding lots of ponies is the way forward! You’ll learn so much more in a shorter space of time than if you stick to riding the same pony.
