Do you ever feel nervous about hacking? Don’t worry, Team PONY’s got your back.

peace of mind hacking

Hacking’s a great opportunity to laugh with friends, have fun with your pony and make memories while riding through the beautiful countryside. But, if you’ve never had the chance to venture outside the arena before, or you’ve just started sharing a new pony, hacking can be a daunting experience.

You might prefer to ride within the walls of an arena and feel nervy at the thought of being out in the open, but staying in the school could mean you miss out on loads of epic adventures! So get ready to switch off from the stresses of life and explore the big, wide world with your fave pony.

Easy does it

Take things at your own pace and don’t feel pressured to go hacking with pals who spend hours exploring or only love to go fast. Start off slowly so you can enjoy your time in the saddle and build up your confidence.

Why not begin by heading out for a short ride around the block or fields after your schooling session? It’s the perfect way to cool down your pony and get used to hacking.

Top tip

Make sure you have all the safety gear needed before going on your hack. You should wear an up-to-standard hat and body protector, as well as one item of high-vis on you and one on your pony.

Quiet time

If your yard’s based in a busy area and you’re likely to come across lots of traffic or dog walkers, avoid riding at peak times. It’s best to head out hacking when it’s quieter so you can focus on having a fun time with your pony.
