Get your pony looking his best in no time

trimming

There’s nothing better than a beautiful, freshly trimmed pony. But tidying up his unruly hair doesn’t mean making him bald! You can neaten feather and luscious locks without lopping them all off. Whether you love your pony’s look – hair and all – or want to give him a makeover, check out our trimming guide.

Big bushy beard

Most ponies have at least a few stray hairs under their jaw, even if they aren’t super-fluffy. Tidying up this fuzz will make fastening his noseband easier and quickly smarten him up. Run a set of trimmers down his jaw – taking care not to bump them on the bone. Alternatively, you can use a comb and a pair of scissors to trim the hair in line with his jaw bone.

Top Tip

Regular trims will make your sessions quicker and easier, plus your pony’ll look smarter for longer.

‘Ear ‘ear

You might find your pony grows lots of hair in his ears, which can look messy and collect dirt or grease. If you’d like to tidy them up, hold the ear in your hand with the outside edges touching. Carefully cut the hair that sticks out with a pair of scissors, cutting up towards the sky – make sure you ask a parent, your instructor or yard manager for help if you need it.
