Make pony treats

These super-scrummy snacks are the perfect treat for your fave pony

You’ll need…

  • grater
  • baking tray
  • greaseproof paper
  • mixing bowl
  • metal spoon
  • scales

Carrot doodles

  •  two carrots
  • 100g porridge oats
  • 100g plain flour
  • 1 tbsp clear honey

1. Grate the carrots into a bowl, then add the porridge oats, flour and honey.

2. Using a metal spoon, mix everything together until it forms a thick batter.

3. Take some batter – no larger than the palm of your hand – and mould it into a carrot shape, then place it on a baking tray that’s covered in greaseproof paper.

4. Bake the carrots in the oven at 190ºC for 10–12 minutes, until they’re a light golden colour.

Top tip – If the mixture’s dry and won’t stick together, add a few drops of water to help it bind

Apple snacks

  • one apple
  • 100g porridge oats
  • 100g plain flour
  • 1 tbsp clear honey
  • green food colouring
  • 1 tsp dried cinnamon

1. Follow the carrot doodle recipe but swap the carrot for apple, and add a few drops of food colouring and a teaspoon of cinnamon to the mixture.

2. Mix the ingredients together with a metal spoon until it forms a thick batter.

3. Once combined, take a small amount of mixture and mould it into a small ball shape.

4. Bake the apple snacks in the oven for 10-12 minutes until they’re firm.

Top tip – Try using different vegetables such as parsnips, beetroot or swede.
