- I love jumping exercises Review by Horse&Rider Web editor Kelly McCarthy-Maine
-
I love, love, love jumping. Poles, courses, gridwork, cross country: you name it, I love flying over it. Equally, I love the schooling and training that goes in to preparing a horse (and rider) to jump beautifully.I think my trainers are terribly clever when they devise exercises specifically to build skills or correct weaknesses. It takes years and years of experience to be able to come up with the right exercise 'off the top of your head', this book can bring you right up to speed.
Using classic, exceptional riders like Mary King, Yogi Breisner, Karen Dixon, Pippa Funnell, Matt Ryan, Gill Watson, Leslie Law, William Fox-Pitt and George Morris, this book focuses on specific (and common!) jumping weaknesses and offers solutions that work. Each rider also explains elements of their overall training philosophy, which is a real peek inside their mindset.
The exercises are explained, detailed with photos, illustrations and stride measurements. Clear and practical, it's like having lessons with the world's best riders in condensed format! (Posted on 11/11/2009)
