Pantomime ponies!
Fun and games at the Pantomime Horse Dressage Competition!
A recent charity event at Goodwood Racecourse saw over 30 teams taking part in a pantomime horse competition! The likes of Lady Gee Gee, Cheryl Foal, Only Fools in Horses and Bruce Horsyth strutted their stuff in the parade ring!
The judging panel included Horse&Rider Magazine's Editor, Nicky Moffatt, who scrutinised the dressage movements; style guru Trinny Woodall, who judged the horses on their turnout; and Vets in Practice star Joe Ingles, who carried out the all-important veterinary checks!
Says Nicky: "Joe was particularly concerned about the horse with pink spots, which he feared had a rather deadly disease. But after taking the horse’s temperature, he was reassured that there was nothing too nasty going on and the horse was allowed to compete!"
Nicky adds: "I was little lost for words when some of the horses lay on their backs and waved their legs in the air. Although impressive, I had never come across this movement before and I am yet to find it in the British Dressage rule book!"
